Advanced Technical Arts and Trades

The Advanced Technical Arts and Trades pathways are designed for students who are interested in careers such as automotive and autobody technology; cosmetology; welding technology; air conditioning and refrigeration; culinary arts; applied digital media; printing; or film, television and video production.
Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration program prepares individuals to install, diagnose,
repair, and maintain the operating condition of domestic, residential, and commercial
heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
Applied Digital Media and Printing
The Applied Digital Media and Printing program focuses on printing and digital media
with an emphasis on examining emerging trends. The program provides students with
technical knowledge and industry skills in preparation for careers in graphic design,
graphic communications, visual technology, and commercial printing.
Automotive Technology
Automotive Technology prepares students for a lifetime occupation. This program educates
students about the various aspects of automotive technology and encompasses a diverse
choice of concentrations including automotive body repair, electrical, mechanical,
and automotive trim and upholstery.
Cosmetology
Students seeking careers in professional cosmetic services should enroll in the Cosmetology
program. Graduates of the program find employment in salons, resorts, casinos, dermatologist鈥檚
offices and other related industry establishments. The College offers a wide selection
of courses designed to prepare students for practicing as licensed cosmetologists
in the state of California.
Culinary Arts and Baking & Pastry
The Culinary Arts and Baking & Pastry programs prepare students for careers as a professional
chef, pastry chef, and in hospitality services for restaurants and other commercial
food establishments. Courses are designed to provide professional and practical experience
and a hands-on approach in the daily operation in a professional kitchen and full-service
restaurant.
Photography
Focus on the principles and techniques of communicating information, ideas and emotion
through digital and film photography. Instruction of camera equipment, digital and
film media, printing media, film developing, light and composition, color and special
effects, photography as art, the history of photography, and the use of computer applications
to refine and organize photographic images.
Film, TV and Video Production and Film Studies
The Film, TV, and Video Production and Film Studies programs cover a variety of technical
topics related to film, television, and video production. Students learn to communicate
information, entertainment and ideas, and plan and produce a variety of genre in film
and television.
Sign Language Interpreter
This program prepares individuals to function as simultaneous and consecutive interpreters
as well as translators of American Sign Language (ASL) and other signing systems employed
to assist deaf and hard-of-hearing people, both voice-to-sign and sign-to-voice interpretation.
Technical Theatre
The Technical Theatre program provides training in basic technical theatre skills
for career employment in production and performance within the theatre industry.
Welding Technology
The welding industry is constantly shaping our world and touches on every profession
and industry that uses metal. The Welding Technology program offers hands-on training
that provides students an understanding of the welding fundamentals. Students learn
metal cutting, brazing, metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, and welding safety.
Culinary Arts
Academy Restaurant
The Culinary Arts Academy is a student-run restaurant that provides future chefs with the opportunity to gain
real-world experience. Located in the heart of downtown Riverside, patrons can enjoy
meals prepared by the region鈥檚 up-and-coming culinary talent. Be our guests!
Advanced Technical Trades Engagement Center
The Advanced Technical Trades engagement center houses the CTE student success team which includes educational advisors, peer mentors, counselors, and faculty. Our Engagement Center is open and excited to welcome you!
